French painter, early 19th century
View from a French palace square, presumably Palais Royal in Paris. Indistinctly inscribed on the base of the sculpture and further inscribed at the bottom: “Lignes Du Bas du rideau on peut reserver les [...] á [Nolorité/Notorité]”. Drawing ink and watercolour on paper mounted in passepartout. Visible size 15.5×25.5 cm.

The sculpture in the centre of the square, bears a resemblance to Hubert Le Sueur's “Diana” from 1648.
The paper has turned slightly brown. Examined in frame.
