[6] + 123 + [1] + 158 + 78 + 140 + 89 + [1] + 165 leaves. 760 of 762 leaves. Incomplete. Illustrated with wooduts, some full page woodcuts, most with narrow fore margin. First 2 leaves and last leaf in facsimile, many leaves reinforced and restored. All over wear, dampstaining to some leaves, underlinings and annotations in old hand and minor loss of text to many leaves. Rebound/restored with orig. blind tooled calf boards on new leather (over wooden boards). With brass corners and one (of 2) clasps.
King Gustav Vasa's Bible was the first Bible to be printed in Scandinavia and the first and only complete Bible printed in Sweden during the 16th century. The Bible was printed at Upsala by Georg Richolff, who had been summoned from Lübeck for this purpose (Darlow and Moule #8808).
