With 296 engraved maps, plans and views (some folding) of Denmark and Danish cities, castles, houses and gardens, including engraved plates showing Danish antiquarian relics, plants, animals and costumes. With an index and tables.

Pontoppidan himself only managed to produce the first 3 volumes before he died, the rest were finished based on his notes by Hans de Hofman. The first great visual description of Denmark, it provides valuably information on topography and architecture in the second half of the 18th century.

Condition

Small tears in folding map 'Det generale Landkort over Sjæland' (p. 28, vol. 2) And small tear in folding map 'Kortet over Aalborg stift' (p. 104, vol. 5)

Bottom of hinge on vol. IV repaired.
