Mona Christensen and Jan Faye, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Vilhelm Petersen no. 5. It is assumed that this is a study for the painting 'Udsigt fra den gamle Frederiksborgvej til Nødebo og Fredensborg' (View from the Old Frederiksborg Road towards Nødebo and Fredensborg) from 1832, and that the present painting is probably from the same year but was signed and dated later in 1840.
