CHURCHILL THEME
Winston Churchill was introduced to painting in 1915 when his political career was at a low point. He continued to paint for the rest of his life, leaving behind a total of around 500 works. However, during World War II, he painted only one single picture - the subject was Marrakech in North Africa - which he gave to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Later, after being in the possession of the actor couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, this painting was sold at auction in 2021 for £8.2 million, a record for a work by Churchill.
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from around 1949, which appears with a few surface cracks. Back slightly yellowed. In addition, common handling marks.
