The conjoined portraits on the obverse show Cleopatra Thea (“the Godess”) with her son Antiochos Gryphos (“hook-nose”) who jointly ruled Syria following the death of Demetrius II. In 121 BC Antiochos had her mother poisened to obtain sole rulership.
