Helfrich Peter Sturz (b. Darmstadt 1736, d. Bremen 1779)
The painter's self-portrait in grey jacket with black collar, white tie. Unsigned. Pastel on paper. Visible size 44×38 cm. Period gilded frame carved with flower branches, lyre and flute. Probably designed and executed by Sturz himself.
Provenance: Descendants of painter, Postmaster General, Counsellor of State H. P. Sturz (1736–1779).
