“In a salute to his youth as a decal applier for racing teams, artist Michael Bevilacqua created a full-scale custom racer as the core of his exhibition of new paintings at Deitch. The car's first 3000 mile bounce between California, Jersey, Brooklyn, and Soho was easy. The hard part was squeezing the vehicle through the tiny doorframe of the gallery space. The solution? Flip the car on its side after bolting it to a custom mini-stage…then roll it on in. AKA: ‘The Eminent Lawsuit on Wheels on Wood on Wheels’ method. Feel free to use it” (Text published in relation to the exhibition at Deitch Projects, New York 2004).
