“Bernie” Sanders was born in Brooklyn, New York and has since 2007 represented the State of Vermont in the US Senate. Formally he is an independent candidate, calls himself “democratic socialist”, yet most often he goes along with The Democratic Party in Senate votings. He obtained world fame when in 2015 announcing his candidature for the presidency (2016 election).
