[Apollo 16] The LM Orion seen from the rover parked at its final VIP site. John Young, 16–27 April 1972, EVA 3. Printed 1972. Vintage chromogenic print on fiber-based Kodak paper [NASA image AS16–116-18715]. 20.3×25.4 cm (8×10 in), with “A Kodak Paper” watermarks on the verso, numbered “NASA AS16–116-18715” in red in top margin (NASA Manned Spacecraft Center, Houston, Texas), with three filing holes in upper margin not affecting the image.

An outstanding and very rare unreleased photograph of the LM Orion taken by John Young at the close-out of EVA-3 after he drove the Lunar Rover to its final parking place 80 m east from the LM so that its TV camera could transmit the liftoff of Orion from the Moon. The lunar penetrometer is in the foreground at the near edge of the Aft Pallet behind the seats of the Rover. The American flag is in the center background (just right of the penometer).

Condition

Three filing holes in top margin outside of image, glossy print in excellent condition.
