Japanese Surimono with 49 coloured woodblock prints. Early 20th century. Measurement: c. 23×20 cm. With the bookplate of H.C. Bärenholdt. Orig. wrappers. Minor signs of wear. Very clean prints.
Surimono literally means “printed thing”. They were often privately commissioned for special occasions such as the New Year and often produced with an abundant use of lavish gold and silver pigments, elaborate embossing and more luxury features.
