2513/9001

A pair of Danish Empire silver beakers, gilt interior, engraved with ornamentation and foliage. Maker Andreas Holm, Copenhagen 1797. Weight 228 g. H. 8.5 cm. (2)

The maker's mark is dated 1796, while the Copenhagen town mark is dated 1797. Some makers did not wish to use expenses on making new stamps every year. Therefore, this hallmark is an older one, but correct in these pieces from 1797.

Provenance: Author and publishing director Bo Bramsen (1912–2002). He was, among other things, a recognized collector of silver from Andreas Holm and also the author of the book “Andreas Holm, en københavnsk sølvsmed 1735–1812” (Andreas Holm, a Copenhagen silversmith 1735–1812), Copenhagen 1976. Thence by descent until today.
