Vilhelm Melbye (b. Helsingør 1824, d. Roskilde 1882)

Seascape near the coast, presumably England, with fishermen salvaging the mast of a wrecked ship. Signed and dated Wilhelm Melbye 1868. Oil on canvas. 58×90 cm.

Vilhelm Melbye lived in London from c. 1853 to 1866.

Condition

Two minimal repairs. In need of a light surface cleaning. Crackles of varying size and one minimal peeling. Slightly over-painted signature.
