Pavel Akimov Ovchinnikov (, Moscow 1881)

A Russian silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel tankard, of tapering form with stippled ground, tower-shaped finial on a domed slip-on lid with geometric patterns with braided rope rims, the body with cartouches in which stylized flowers and foliage with mirrored birds, surrounded by geometric patterns and flowers with birds, rabbits and deer, parted by rectangular stripes and foliage panels, scrolling handle and thumb-piece, circular raised base. Pavel Akimov Ovchinnikov, marked with the Imperial Warrant as purveyor to the Imperial Russian Court, assayer Ivan Yepimovich Konstantinov 1880, Moscow town mark, 91 standard. Weight c. 960 g. H. 21.5 cm.
