Ida Peterson (b. 1822, d. 1849)
Roses, dahlia and bindweed in a basket. Sign. I. Peterson on the stretcher. Oil on canvas. 43.5×57 cm.
Not much information is available on Ida Peterson. Judging from her style of painting and her motifs including bouquets on a stone sill, roses in a kylix and flowers in a wickerbasket, it is quite likely that she, like so many other forgotten female floral painters of that period, was a student of the famous flower painter I. L. Jensen. Ida Peterson also executed decorations on jewelry and other objects.
A few minimal retouches and peelings. Minor crackles. In need of a light surface cleaning.
