Louis Kuppenheim , attributed to

A German Art Deco sterling silver-gilt minaudière jewelry case, of rectangular form with eyelet, front and back chased with an owl including glass eyes, top with pencil in compartment to pull out for taking notes on the mirror reverse within, sapphire thumbpieces open to interior with two hinged compartments, hinged vanity mirror and sprung clip. Attributed to the company Louis Kuppenheim in Pforzheim, c. 1920. Marked London 1945–1946 plus for Cohen & Charlen (importer) and for Mappin & Webb (retailer). Weight 240 g. H. incl. eyelet 12.5 cm.

The minaudière is in good and original condition with minor wear related to age and use. We have observed: A few small, light surface scratches; some slightly deeper scratches; a few small, light surface marks; some slightly deeper marks; mirror with a small chip in one corner and loose in its frame mounting; one sapphire with a small scratch; one missing sapphire; minor wear to the gilding in a few areas; difficult to close.
