Civita Castellana is a fortified mountain town approx. 65 km north of Rome.
Anders Lunde stayed in Italy from 1842–47. From the late 1830s, he devoted himself to landscape painting and most of his Italian landscapes are - like this one - detailed studies after nature carefully carried out on paper on the site.
