A George III striking clock in fruitwood case, gilt brass dial with pierced corner ornamentation, chapter ring with black Roman numerals, the movement with painted moon phase, calendar and repeat pull, double strike bell. Signed John Dowson, London. Late 18th century. H. 50 cm. W. 29 cm. D. 20 cm.

John Dowson is listed as working in both London and Bath. It appears he served his apprenticeship in London and then later moved to Bath. He continued to do business in both cities throughout the 18th century.

Condition

We do not guarantee for the functionality. Wear due to age and use. Pendulum, Winding key and Key is enclosed. Later pendulum and hang.
