A Danish excavated kidney dagger with pommel in gilded bronze decorated with lines. The remains of the wooden hilt is preserved by the pommel and the remains of the “kidneys” are held by small gilded bronze pieces. The curved guard is in gilded bronze and the single edged blade is c. 18,5 cm long with a broad spine. C. 1450.
The dagger was excavated on matrikel 44 Hejsager close to the city of Haderslev. It was cleaned and preserved by the Haderslev Museum. Another allmost like this is in the National Museum of Denmark found in Vilstrup Parish, Haderslev County, suggesting Danish production. With the dagger miscellaneous letters and a map of the site where it was found.
