Among the best known of the North Schleswig clock makers is Peter Green, (Liverpool 1706 - Aabenraa 1795), from Aabenraa or “Apenrade” as the signature appears on the clocks. The family goes back to the English clock maker, Peter Green, who immigrated with his wife and children from Liverpool to Aabenraa around 1740, became a citizen in 1744/45, and worked there until his death in 1795. He had two sons, William and Jonathan, also clock makers in Aabenraa, and finally had a grandson William Jacob, who continued in the family business until his death in 1847.
