Robert Kennedy resigned from the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration on September 3rd 1964 and won a seat in the US Senate in January 1965. In 1968 he became the Democratic Party's candidate for the Presidency, someting which was made possible due to support from the poor, the African Americans, the Hispanics, the catholics and the young voters. His main opponent was Senator Eugene McCarthy (1916–2005).
This is an original black-and-white press photograph from 1966, which shows normal signs of handling. Back somewhat yellow due to ageing.
