With 150 + 77 and 128 engraved plates, incl. 3 title pages + Index, uncut. Part I depicts Stockholm and Uppland, part II depicts Södermannland, Västermannland, Dalarna, Värmland, Lappland etc. and part III depicts Östergötland, Västergötland, southern part of Gotland, Skåne, Småland, Halland and Öland. With old book plate (Ericsbergs Bibliothek). Bound in nice 19th century full calf, with gilt decorations and all edges gilt. In later slipcase. Enclosed separate text volume. 132 p. Folio. Good copy of the largest Scandinavian topographical work. In 1661 Erik Dahlberg was granted a royal privilege enabling him to realize his plan of a large work of engravings describing his grand vision of Sweden during its period as a world power. The work was not published in its final state until after his death. Today, Dahlberg's oeuvre is considered among the finest printed works of Sweden.
