Charlie Duke: An original NASA colour offset photograph of the American astronaut John W. Young (1930–2018), leader of the Apollo 16 Mission (April 16th-April 27th 1972), saluting Stars and Stripes while jumping in his almost weightless condition. In the left side of the photograph the Lunar Rover vehicle and the landing module. Back with description. Photo size 20×25 cm. Frame size 33×43 cm.

Apollo 16 - launched from Kennedy Space Center in Floria on April 16th 1972 - was the tenth manned mission within the Apollo Program and the fifth Moon landing. It was also the first landing in the lunar mountain areas. Among the collected samples was the heaviest rock ever found by any Apollo crew The said specimen weighed 11.34 kilograms. Another record was established during this crew's visit, namely a speed record. The mission's vehicle (Lunar Rover) reached 17.7 km/h.
