The scarce second English edition of Shelley's classic gothic tale is the first edition published under her name and in contrast to the revised 1831 edition it contains the story in its original form. After its initital publication in 1818, the novel was reissued in 1823 after the success of the stageplay “Presumption, or, The Fate of Frankenstein”.
