Johann Peter Robers (, Moscow 1786)

A pair of Russian Neoclassical silver serving dishes, of oval form, cast with beading borders. Johann Peter Robers, assayer Andrei Titov, Moscow town mark 1786. Engraved in the bottom respectively “No 5 = 3 [pound symbol] 78 Sol.” and “No 6 = 4 [pound symbol] 10 Sol.” Weight c. 1,474 g. W. 24.3 cm. L. 34 cm. (2).

“Sol.” is the abreviation for the Russian weight unit zolotnik.

Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.
