P. Salice (, German painter, active in Hirschberg 1750-1770)

A pair of portraits of a married couple, depicting a lady in a low cut blue dress, red cloak and flowers in her hair, and a gentleman in a grey coat, yellow waistcoat, white shirt with a jabot, grey wig and one hand inside his waistcoat. He is signed and dated on the reverse of the canvas P. Salice Pinx. Ao 1750, she unsigned. Oil on canvas. 99 × 75 cm each. (2).

P. Salice primarily painted distinguished merchant families in Hirschberg, and some of his portraits are said to be at the local museum. Hirschberg is located in Schlesien, the present Poland, and is named Jelenia Góra.

Condition

The lady's portrait is relined. Minor crackles. Retouches. Minimal peelings and surface scratches.
