Adam Oehlenschläger (b. Copenhagen 1779, d. 1850)

Collection of manuscript fragtments etc. incl. autograph manuscript (fragtment) to the play ”Erik Glipping”. 2 p. 8vo. Cph, no date. 53 lines. With autograph corrections. + Letter to bookseller Jos. Max in Breslau. Dated Cph, March 24, 1838. The letter deals with the German publication of 4 tragedies and a play. Both items have been in the possession of Bent Dahlstrøm. + Autograph manuscript (fragtment) for the German translation of J.H. Wessel's “Love without Stockings”. 1843 (published by Ernst Fleischer in Leipzig, 1845). The fragment incl. the text from p. 84, 6th bottom line to p. 90 bottom. + ”Trykmanuskript” for the poem ”Til Deres Majestæt Dronningen”. With instructions to the typesetter. Housed in paper binding. All housed in a cloth box with inlaid bronze medallion of the poet.

Adam Oehlenschläger was one of the principal pioneers of the romantic movement in Europe. He supplied his countrymen with romantic tragedies at a time when all eyes were turned to the stage. He performed to an extent that his name remains to this day synonymous with Scandinavian romance.
