Estate Catherineberg is a historic mansion on Denmark Hill in Charlotte Amalie, on St. Thomas. The mansion is today owned by the Virgin Islands territorial government and previously served as a residence for the governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 831, 2012 no. 63, ill. p. 64. Here it was stated that the Danish captain Jens Peter Thomsen, who sailed in the Danish West Indies, had acquired the painting directly from the artist, who lived on the island.
