L. A. Ring (b. Ring 1854, d. Roskilde 1933)

The painting is a study for or a repetition of a much larger painting by L. A. Ring from the same year (H. Chr. Christensen's Catalogue Raisonné of L. A. Ring's works no. 358).
Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 573, 1992 no. 36.
Sigrid Ring stands in a monumental profile on the beach and looks out over the rough sea, where the waves are crested with white foam. There is a strong wind blowing as can be seen with the Danish flag in the background. The sky is dark. Is a storm brewing?
Sigrid and L. A. Ring married in 1896.
