“Elizabeth”. Easy chair and matching stool of Brazilian rosewood. Sides, back, stool and loose seat cushion upholstered with reddish brown colured leather. Model U-56. Designed 1956. These examples made approx. 1960s by Christensen & Larsen Cabinetmakers, chair stamped. (2)

Originally known as model U-56, this easy chair got its nickname after a pair of chairs found their way to Queen Elizabeth II, and it has since then been widely known as the “Elizabeth” chair. The sculptural frame and its beautiful craftsmanship have led to the iconic status of “Elizabeth”, equal to that of Finn Juhl’s “FJ 45” armchair.
Items that are made of Brazilian rosewood or contain parts of it, require a CITES export permit in order to be exported from Denmark to a country outside The European Union. Buyers residing outside the European Union are required to obtain this permit.
