A large Russian Mother of God “The Burning Bush” icon. The icon protects the owner from fires and lightning strikes. The name of the icon comes from the account of Moses in the Old Testament, where he sees the angel in the form of a thorn bush that burns but is not consumed. Tempera on wooden panel with “kovcheg”. Russia, 18th/19th century. 105×83 cm.
