A German Baroque style silver-gilt beaker, richly chased and embossed with cartouches and masks, bird heads, fruit and foliage, bands and garlands, on three ball supports, exterior bottom engraved with the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, surrounded by text “Johann Albrecht H.Z. Mecklenb. 1901”. J. Wagner & Sohn, Berlin, fineness 800. C. 1900. Weight 216 g. H. 9.5 cm. Diam. top 8.5 cm.

Duke Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1857–1920) was regent of the grand duchy from 1897 to 1901 on behalf of his underage nephew, Duke Friedrick Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Based on the engraved date on the cup, it can be assumed that Duke Johann Albrecht received it in connection with his resignation as regent.

Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, married Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Cumberland. Their daughter, Princess Anastasia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1923–1979) married Prince Friederich Ferdinand of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1913–1989) in 1943. This couple became parents of the four below mentioned sisters.
