Christen Købke (b. Copenhagen 1810, d. s.p. 1848)

The present painting is mentioned in the list of Købke's paintings, which were exhibited in Kunstforeningen in 1912 under “Missing paintings from other auctions” no. 27.
On the back a label with the following text (in Danish): “This Picture (From the old school in Odense) had belonged to manufacturer Købke, Viborg and professor Foss, Lykkesholm Allé 16, has today been represented to P. Købke, Jagtvej 229, who recognized the picture and declared it to be a painting by his father Christen Købke, who died in 1848. Strandvej 2, 28 October 1920 Chr. Dam!”
The author Peter Købke died 1923.
