Inscribed in Danish on label on the reverse: "View: Spring 1874, from ruins of the Imperial Palaces* in Rome with Colosseum and The Arch of Constantine and the monastery St. Buonaventura hvor Maleren Küchler was Munk (see the figure), in the distance the snowcovered Leonessa in the Abruzzis, painted by Godfred Christensen 1926 on an older version of the painting.
