The Imperial Glass Factory, c. 1840-1850
A Russian cut crystal wine glass, cuppa with prism-cut sides, front adorned with a raised oval medallion with the enamelled mitre crowned A for Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaevich of Russia on a red velvet and ermine cloak, baluster faceted stem on a slightly raised scalloped base with a cut star in the bottom. Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaevich was the future Tsar Alexander II of Russia (1818–1881). The present glass is part of a service, produced for him, when he was crown prince.
