An original b/w gelatin silver press photograph of American civil rights camnpaigner Rosa Parks (1913–2005). Back with stamped publication date (April 17, 1972), handwritten layout instruction in red as well as handwritten note. Double glazing. Visible size 12.5×16 cm. Frame size 22×27 cm.
On Thursday, December 1, 1955, African-American Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery in the American South to a white man. This courageous act of protest in Alabama, then a state that officially practiced racial segregation in public spaces, is today considered the spark that ignited the American civil rights movement.
Faded. Has yellowed slightly. Narrow pressure mark in the upper left corner. Furthermore normal signs of handling.
