Half title missing (as usual). Richly illustrated with woodcuts in the text. First title leaf and portrait with repairs and reinforced edges, title with old name on verso. Marginal dampstaining throughout most of the book. A few leaves with browning. 3 leaves with minor tear (upper part of leaf 180 + 29 and 30 in New Testament. Bound in cont. full calf over wooden boards, front hinge with cracks but not loose. With gilt decorations and clasps (renewed). With chiselled and gilt edges.
Originaltrykket af den sidste af de danske foliobibler, trykt af den første kongelige bogtrykker Melchior Martzan og for anden dels vedkommende af Salomon Sartor. De træskårne illustrationer er de samme som anvendtes i Frederik II's Bibel fra 1589. Christian IV's bibel is the last of the three folio size bibles printed in Denmark and Norway.
