A large Empire gilt and patinated bronze striking mantel clock with Verde Antico marble base, an allegory of study in the shape of a young female figure in classical garb leaning on a pile of books, white enamel dial with inner concentric date ring. Signed Louis-Jacques Vaillant, Paris, c. 1810. H. 68 cm. W. 42 cm. D. 18 cm.
