Two Russian silver cigarette cases, one adorned with niello prospectus of the Kremlin, foliage and design, gilt interior. Petr Abrosimov, Moscow 1882–1899, 84 standard, L. 10.5 cm; further, a clutch-shaped case, clasp with adorned with cabochon-cut green stone, possibly agate, gilt interior. Cyrillic maker's mark SPI, Moscow 1899–1908, 84 standard, L. 11 cm. Weight in total 319 g. (2).
Provenance: The Danish seller's stepmother's parents, Arne Hammer and his Russian-born wife, Tatiana Konstantinova Hammer, née Martinson. Arne Hammer worked for the Great Northern Telegraph Company and travelled often to Russia in the 1920s. In Irkutsk, he met Tatiana, whom he married and moved to Denmark. Tatiana Hammer belonged to the Russian circles in Copenhagen.
Normal patina due to age and use, including scratches, marks and minor dents. Clutch-shaped case with engraved monogram, the inside faintly scratched with names. Worn gilding.
