Harry J. Wild: An original American black-and-white offset pin-up print of Marilyn Monroe (1926–1962). Printed 1953. Photo size 25×20 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.
In 1953, after the release of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”, Marilyn Monroe travelled through America on a promotion tour and here she wore the giant diamnond, which can be seen in the picture. It is known as “Moon of Baroda”, named after the Indian principality from where it originates. The last time the diamond was sold was in 2018, where it reached one million pounds in a Hong Kong sale. Marilyn Monroe was never the owner of “Moon of Baroda”, she merely borowed it from the American jeweller Meyer Rosenbaum. During the shoot - when she sings “Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend” - she is wearing a bijouterie copy, only on the promotion tour the original jewel was left in her care.
This is an original American black-and-white offset print from 1953, which shows normal signs of handling. Furthermore corner holes from drawing pins.
