Otto Bache (b. Roskilde 1839, d. Copenhagen 1927)

A study for “De Sammensvorne rider fra Finderup Lade efter mordet på Erik Glipping i 1286”. The Conspirators riding from Finderup Barn after the murder of the Danish King Erik Glipping in 1286. Signed and dated Otto Bache 1880. Watercolour on paper. 42.5×52.5 cm.

The present work is a study for the main work at the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle with the same title, dated 1882. A painting brewer J. C. Jacobsen commissioned to the museum.

Provenance: Bruun Rasmussen auction 79, 1956 no. 205.

Condition

A few scratches and minimal crackles. The paper has turned slightly brown. Discolourations. In need of cleaning.
