Slott-Møller was greatly fascinated by Perugino (1446–1523) and copied him several times, including the present painting “Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane” in the Uffizi. It was especially the Italian artist’s way of painting the landscape that inspired him. He has copied a small section of the left side of the painting.
