A diamond clip/brooch “Rose d'Or” in the shape of a gloved hand holding a rose set with an old-cut diamond weighing app. 0.25 ct. and numerous rose-cut diamonds, mounted in 18k gold, pink gold, platinum and black and red lacquer. A convertible piece, the hand can be unmounted and the rose can be worn by itself. Signed Cartier, Paris. Serial no. 06409. French hallmarks. L. app. 4.8 cm. Weight app. 17.5 g. Circa 1938.
Accompanied by original case and copy of valuation from Cartier.
An identical brooch is featured in François Chaille's book, “The Cartier Collection”, Volume 2, p. 483. Ref. no. CL 25 A38. The description states: “A new kind of brooch appeared in the 1930s decorative, amusing pieces produced in limited series. Many clients viewed them as good luck charms”.
