Asger Jorn (b. Vejrum 1914, d. Århus 1973)

Provenance: H. Selmer-Krogh, Esbjerg, Denmark. The vase is part of Asger Jorn's earliest ceramic production and was executed at Silkeborg Pottemageri while Jorn (Asger Jørgensen at this time) was studying to become a teacher at Silkeborg Seminarium. Jorn and H. Selmer-Krogh studied together, and the figure has been owned by H. Selmer-Kroghs family since the execution. Acquired by the current owner at Bruun Rasmussen, auction 777, cat. no. 166.
Larger crackles and peelings to the glaze.
