12007/8

Unknown photographer: A signed colour phoograph of the Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery (b. 1930) in his role as Dr Henry Jones, Sr. in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. Photo size 21×14.5 cm.

Sean Connery acchieved global fame in the 1960s as the British Agent 007 - the man who had a license to kill. After five Bond movies, however, Connery was somewhat tired of the lucrative, yet also very monotonous part and may also have feared that the strong identification with 007 could cause trouble in regards to other film projects. Nevertheless he later accepted the lead role in “Diamonds are Forever” (1971) and “Never Say Never Again” (1983). The title of the last-mentioned played on Sean Connery's ambivalent attitude towards the series. In 1989 he re-emerged as Dr Henry Jones, Sr., which cemented his reputation as one of the most popular actors in the world. In 2001 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
