12033/64

Unknown photographer: An original American black-and-white photograph of President John F. Kennedy (1917–1963) in conversation with former President Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890–1969) in Palm Springs, California. In the background snow-covered mountain peaks. Front side with retouchings. Back with notes, newspaper cutting and date of publication (March 25th 1962). Photo size 24×15 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.

John F. Kennedy consulted former president Dwight D. Eisenhower on several occasions, for instance in connection with the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. The two men did not agree on every topic - for one thing they came from two different parties - yet Kennedy argued that Eisenhower was one of the few people alive, who could fully understand what it was like to sit behind the Resolute Desk in The White House - and carry the burdens that followed.

Condition

This is an original press photograph from 1962, which shows normal signs of handling. Back somewhat yellow due to ageing.
