Lillöhus castle is first mentioned in 1343 when it belonged to the Thott family, it later came in possession of the Trolle family and was the birthplace of the famous Danish naval hero Herluf Trolle. The castle was destroyed during the wars of the 17th century and excavated in the early 20th century
