Søren S. Buxlund

Pair-cased silver pocket watch. Verge escapement and key-winding. Silver dial with blued steel hands. Movement signed “Sör S. Buxlund Aarhuus”. Unmumbered. Both cases of silver. Ø 45/53 mm. 1750–60s.

Søren S. Buxlund (1721/25–1805) was apprenticed in Copenhagen by N. E. Ziegenhirt from 1741 and onwards. Ziegenhirt was the first Master of the Copenhagen Watch- and clockmakers Guild. Buxlund obtained citizenship in Århus in 1751. Litt.: Ingvordsen, Jens: Urmagere i Danmark før år 1900.
