Original B/W silver gelatin press photograph of American jazz singer Billie Holiday (1915–1959) on stage in Downbeat Club, New York in February 1947. Back with agency stamp, handwritten date of receipt (July 14, 1960) and stamped newspaper publication dates (July 17, 1960*, April 7, 1965, November 28, 1969). Black stained oak wood frame with double glazing. Visible size 24×20 cm. Frame size 32×28 cm.

Billie Holiday's recordings between 1936 and 1942 marked her peak years. During that period she was often associated with saxophonist Lester Young, who gave her the nickname 'Lady Day'.

Condition

This is an original B/W silver gelatin press photograph from 1960 or earlier, which has a pinhole at the top and a minor tear in the lower left side; repair on back.
