A Tibetan/Nepali gilt copper figure of the crowned Buddha, he is seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus throne, crowned and wearing a robe with engraved and beaded borders, the right hand in the bhumisparsha mudra, the left resting on the lap. On the back a small carved square, possibly for consecrated filling of the figure. Sealed bottom. 14th-15th century. Weight 514 g. H. 13 cm.

The style of the figure is ascribed to the Khasa Malla kingdom in west Nepal/Tibet.

Provenance: Acquired in Mustang district, Nepal, in 1972.
